Fife is well known by those who enjoy a game of golf, being the location of St Andrews and the famous Old Course – home of golf. However this region in the East of Scotland, recognisable on the map as looking like a Scottie dog’s head, has much to offer not just those who enjoy this sport.
The East Neuk is a string of quaint fishing villages along the coast where you will find some of the best Fish and Chips. Heading inland the village of Ceres hosts the oldest Highland Games in Scotland. Lindores Abbey Distillery is where the first recorded written evidence of whisky distillation was recorded, back in 1494. In west Fife you will find Dunfermline, Scotland’s newest city but once Scotland’s ancient capital. This is also the birthplace of one of the world’s most influential philanthropists, Andrew Carnegie.
