Often referred to as ‘God’s own country’ Yorkshire has some of the most beautiful scenery around. From the Yorkshire Dales, home to a National Park and the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to the North York Moors. If being by the sea is your preference, there are almost 100 miles of coastline to explore. Yorkshire is also where vet James Alfred Wight was based. His books, written under the pen name of James Herriot, told stories of his life as a young veterinary surgeon in rural Yorkshire. The books were turned into an iconic television series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.
