The Three Graces

For nearly a century the Three Graces – The Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building – have defined one of the world’s most recognised skylines. Albert Dock

The Albert Dock is a truly stunning architectural triumph. Opened in 1846, it soon became a treasure house of precious cargoes from all over the world. Today redevelopment, costing in excess of £100 million, has transformed it into one of Liverpool’s busiest and most cosmopolitan centres and a top heritage attraction. It contains excellent visitor attractions, including Tate Liverpool, Beatles Story and Merseyside Maritime Museum, plus shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Mersey Ferries

There’s no better way to experience Liverpool and Merseyside than from the deck of the world famous Mersey Ferry listening to the commentary. You’ll learn about the city and the region’s fascinating history, see its spectacular sights and discover its unique character. The Liverpool waterfront is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site so there’s even more reason to take a leisurely cruise on the river.

Anglican Cathedral

It is the largest Anglican Cathedral in England and one of the great buildings of the twentieth century. The Cathedral abounds in superlatives: highest gothic arches, largest organ, heaviest ring of bells but the grandeur is balanced by a great sense of welcome and peace. The whole Cathedral is used imaginatively for many purposes – worship, concerts, exhibitions, recitals, displays.

Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King

Discover Liverpool’s dramatic, modern, circular Roman Catholic Cathedral designed by Sir Frederick Gibbered with its glorious multi-coloured glass and many modern art works. The earlier crypt by Sir Edwin Lutyens is a spectacular contrast with its huge granite and brick halls and chapel.

World Museum Liverpool

The World Museum Liverpool – formerly Liverpool Museum – is one of England ‘s finest museums. It has thousands of fascinating exhibits, many on display for the first time. New galleries include World Cultures, the Bug House, a new Aquarium, the Weston Discovery Centre and Clore Natural History Centre. The new fair-trade shop is a first for museums in the UK.

Tate Liverpool

Tate Liverpool is the home of the National Collection of Modern Art in the north, and in 2008 celebrated its twentieth year as a major presence in the city. Located on the Grade One listed Albert Dock within easy walking distance from the City centre, the Tate Liverpool has become a venue for major exhibitions of international modern art, as well as hosting large and changing displays from the national collection, making it the ideal place to either see your favourite artwork or discover something new.

Cavern Club

The Cavern Club is where the Beatles became famous in the early 60s. This unique live music venue still generates a great atmosphere. The Cavern Club today is a replica of the original Cavern where the Beatles became famous in the early 60s. It is built on the site of the original club, to exactly the same dimensions. This world famous live music venue offers a varied programme from traditional rock to contemporary music. The original Cavern closed in 1973 but was re-built and reopened on its original site in 1984. One half of the present-day club has been re-built with original brick work.

Located within Liverpool’s historic Albert Dock, the Beatles Story is a unique visitor attraction that transports you on an enlightening and atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles. See how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled to the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune, becoming the greatest band of all time along the way!

St. George’s Hall

St George’s Hall is widely regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world and is a Grade I listed building. St George’s Hall stands 169ft long and 74ft wide with a tunnel vaulted ceiling – the largest of its kind in Europe. The ceiling is supported on massive red granite columns, with figures portraying qualities Victorian Liverpool aspired to – art, science, fortitude and justice. The Hall is also home to a concert organ complete with 7,000 pipes, second only in size to the organ in the Albert Hall. Throughout the Heritage Centre, imaginative exhibitions, reconstructions and hands-on activities vividly bring the story of St George’s Hall alive. Visitors can follow in the steps of the unfortunate prisoners, from prison cell to the dock.
