The city of Inverness is known as the Capital of the Highlands. Sitting on the banks of the River Ness and next to the Beauly Firth and Moray Firth, the city and surrounding area is often used as a base for exploring the Highlands due to its close proximity to Loch Ness and the North Coast 500 along with connections to the Battle of Culloden and Shakespeare’s Macbeth. We recommend taking a cruise on Loch Ness, possibly a bit of Nessie spotting, visiting the Culloden Battlefield or the Clava Cairns. Music and heritage can be found in many locations in the city including, the soon to be opened, Inverness Castle.
