Discover Bagpipes: The Soundtrack of Scotland

At Best of Scotland Holidays we like to provide experiences for our clients which will give a lifetime of memories. Our programmes are carefully created by our travel team who will take your interests into consideration while giving clients a taste of those unique aspects of our different nations.

Synonymous with Scotland are Whisky, Tartan, Castles, our beautiful landscape, our wonderful people and, of course, Bagpipes! Whether you experience hearing a lone piper or a full pipe band, the sound is incredible and often emotive.

If you have ever wanted to find out more about the history of bagpipes or even try them yourself then we are delighted to introduce the very experience for you while visiting Scotland. Read on to hear from Dean who delivers his fabulous Bagpipe Experience.

Hello, my name is Dean Saunders and I am a professional Bagpipe player based in Fife, Scotland. I started learning the bagpipes at the age of 13 at my local air cadets. I have been playing the bagpipes for 20 years now and it has been my full-time job since July 2020. The bagpipes have taken me all over the world and I have had some amazing experiences doing what I love. I have met multiple celebrities, made numerous TV appearances and played for some pretty special people!

The bagpipe experience is an interactive experience for all ages. It allows people to get up close and personal with a live Bagpiper. Bagpipe workshops are fun, engaging and the aim of the session is for people to learn more about the history of the bagpipes and how they work to create the unique sound that can be heard for miles. Within the sessions, we give people the opportunity to try out the bagpipes as well as learning some basic finger techniques that pipers apply in order to be able to play the bagpipes.

By the end of the workshop, we hope that the attendees will be able to get some kind of sound out of the bagpipes, answer some basic questions about the bagpipes and their history as well as have a full understanding of the various components of the bagpipes. We can also add on some additional extras to the workshop, such as learning to highland dance and play the pipe band snare drum, both of which compliment the bagpipes.

I look forward to welcoming you to my Bagpipe Experience in the future.
