BOSH in Dublin

Our Operations Director Jacqui was on her travels again, this time she visited the vibrant city of Dublin. The lively capital of Ireland is filled with history and culture, boasting an eclectic blend of Georgian architecture, cobbled streets, and contemporary structures. Jacqui visited many of Dublin’s attractions which pay homage to the city’s artistic and brewing legacies. Read on to find out what she got up to.

Day One

We arrived into Dublin at lunchtime and took the Dublin Express service to the city centre which only took around 20 minutes.  We were staying at the Stay City Aparthotel on Mark Street which was a great central location.  We visited the Guinness Storehouse which over several floors tell the story of this iconic drink and finishes up on the 7th floor in the gravity bar with a pint of the black stuff and panoramic views of the city.

Day Two

We headed just over the River Liffey to the EPIC museum which has won Europe’s Leading Visitor Attraction in 2019, 2020 & 2021. The museum takes your through a series of rooms detailing Irelands history particularly focusing on the immigration stories of real people through the years.  Over the centuries more than 10 million people emigrated from Ireland and here you can find out why they left, where they went and how they shaped the world.  You across the road from the museum is the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship which offers hourly guided tours and learn the story of the thousands of people who fled the famine to start a new life in North America.

Next on our itinerary was the Teeling Whiskey Distillery.  Opened in 2015 by the Teeling brothers whose family have a rich history of whiskey distilling in Dublin dating back to 1782 this is the first new whiskey distillery to open in Dublin in 125 years.  We enjoyed the Trinity Tasting Tour which is a guided tour of the distillery complete with a sampling of the Teeling Small Batch, Teeling Single Grain, and Teeling Single Malt.  We then enjoyed a cocktail in the bar afterwards.

Day Three

We kicked off our morning with a hearty full Irish Breakfast at The Old Mill restaurant in Temple Bar, we had booked a table for 10am but arrived a little early by 10am there was not a free table in the place so definitely advise to get there early!  We then headed across the road the world famous Temple Bar which is owned by U2 and enjoyed some live music and a couple of drinks and it wasn’t even 11am (it’s 5pm somewhere!).

We then headed off to the Jameson Distillery founded in 1780 by a Scotsman John Jameson from Alloa who moved to Dublin in the 1770’s.  We enjoyed a 60 minute Whiskey Cocktail Making masterclass where we got to grips with a Whiskey Sour, an Old Fashioned and then enjoyed a warm winter punch when we moved through to our private bar area.  It was a fun experience where we got to know our fellow cocktail makers from around the world under the expert tuition of our Jameson bartender Paul.

For dinner after checking reviews online we opted for the award winning Fire Steakhouse where we had a table on the terrace looking out over the city, worth a visit for a special occasion.

Day 4

Before we headed back to the airport, we enjoyed a stroll around the city and explored the busy shopping hub of Grafton Street which has everything from popular high street names to designer shops.
