1. Galloway International Dark Sky Park, Galloway Forest Park
There’s no better way to spend an evening under the stars than at Galloway’s International Dark Sky Park. With very few people living in the 300 square miles of forest and hills, the skies are exceptionally dark. Here, it’s possible to see 7000 stars and the bright band of The Milky Way just with the naked eye. Galloway’s International Dark Sky Park is the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world, and the first in the UK to be named a Gold Tier park for its breathtaking and rare stargazing surroundings.

An icon of The Scottish Highlands, Eilean Donan Castle sits on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet and is surrounded by the picturesque forested mountains of Kintail. With such a unique fairytale-like location, the 13th century castle is often considered as one of the most romantic castles in Scotland making it the perfect place for couples to visit. 3. Calgary Bay, Isle of Mull

Nestled in the woods near Aviemore, the Woodman’s Hut is a rustic little cabin designed entirely for couples and completely built with self-sufficiency in mind. The crystal-clear Fairy Pools lie at the foot of the Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye. Visitors must embark on a stunning 2.4km hike through the gravel path amongst grass, heather peat and rocks to reach the fairy pools. In the summer, the fairy pools make an ideal spot for some wild, but possibly cold swimming.
