Best of Scotland Holidays is one of Britain’s longest established independent Destination Management Companies – creating tailor made UK travel itineraries for FIT and small groups.
Started in 1983 by the Dewar family, we now have over 40 years’ expertise working with the travel trade planning leisure and golfing vacations in Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales. We pride ourselves on our local knowledge, and on our ability to provide personal attention to all our travel agents and clients.

Our Story and Team
Duncan Dewar started Best of Scotland Holidays in April 1983 after working in the travel industry for almost 15 years.
At the time there were very few Incoming Tour Operators / Destination Management companies in Scotland and the UK. Not long after starting the company Duncan was headhunted to join Stakis Hotels, a UK hotel chain, so Marie Dewar joined and took charge during which time Duncan worked as General Sales Manager for the UK. Gaining an insight into the hotel industry, Duncan returned to Best of Scotland and set up Days Aways, a UK short-break supplier.
Both companies continued during the 1990s and early 2000’s, when the decision was taken to refocus on where we started and our roots, a Destination Management Company. 2023 saw us celebrating our 40th year in business.
Our Team Growth
Although Duncan and Marie remain actively involved in the business, day-to-day operations are managed by our Operations Director, Jacqui Curley, who joined the company in 2018, and their daughter Kirsten, who returned as Sales and Marketing Director in 2024. Kirsten previously worked for the company from 2001 to 2004 before embarking on various adventures.
Working closely together Kirsten and Jacqui are looking ahead to celebrating many more anniversaries for Best of Scotland Holidays.
Our Best of Scotland Holidays Tartan
To commemorate our 40 years in business we decided to commission a tartan. Our journey began with connecting with the House of Tartan (now the Scotland Shop), based in Crieff to design and register our tartan.
Working with the team there we wanted a tartan to reflect the colours in our company logo; the green of the trees and mountains and blue for the sky and seas around our island destination.
After being presented with weave and colour options we made some colour amendments, to comply with the registration process, and our Best of Scotland Holidays tartan was created and registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans on 22nd November, 2022.
